Finding Glimmers: Creating Joy in Everyday Life
Welcome to my blog! I created this little space on the internet to share my life experiences and hopefully bring value to whoever needs it.
I’ve had many wins, many failures, and plenty of moments of melancholy when I had to create my own spark of joy. Through those experiences, I’ve developed a wealth of knowledge — and now feels like the right time to share it.
Whether it’s a recipe, a moment of reflection, or simple life advice, my goal is to connect — and help others connect too.
My Roots
Connection and creation have always been my two strong suits.
For a little (and slightly embarrassing) history lesson: I was the empathetic 10-year-old listening to Delilah on the radio at night, making iced coffee in the morning, and cleaning blinds by the afternoon.
Those routines gave me calm and peace in my solitude while my parents worked and my older sisters were out of the house. It was my way of self-soothing — using quiet time to create, imagine, and plan what I wanted my life to look like. I longed for connection and I grew within my creativity.
I left childhood behind as quickly as possible. I wanted to be grown. I wanted to be a homemaker like Martha Stewart.
I acted mature, but emotionally I couldn’t keep up. I got married young, and all of my twenties were spent pregnant, nursing, and caring for little ones.
I volunteered on every field trip, chaired PTA events, and felt full of purpose and love. But I also felt drained, lonely, and lost at times. My creativity became my lifeline through those low valleys.
Chasing Glimmers of Happiness
I learned to notice small joys — what I call glimmers.
Sometimes that meant putting on a full face of makeup: prepping my skin, bouncing a damp beauty blender, and transforming the person in the mirror as if Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother had made a visit. I watched beauty reviews on YouTube and became a tough critic of every product.
Other times, it was baking. Using my hands and a few simple ingredients to transform nothing into something gave me joy. And when someone took that first bite and said, “OMG, this is amazing,” my heart felt full.
What Grounds Me
Working out was another glimmer — even though I dreaded it. It’s not something I love, but it’s necessary for my anxiety and helps me feel alive.
I’ve done fitness challenges, a few rounds of 75 Hard, and even ran several half marathons (plus one unforgettable full marathon). Pushing my body to the edge of failure was unlike anything I’d ever done — maybe even more intense than childbirth!
Sometimes, cleaning gave me the same burst of satisfaction. I like to keep things tidy and my kitchen spotless, but organizing is where I shine. There’s nothing like cleaning a room, lighting a candle, and soaking in that quiet moment of accomplishment.
The Healing Work
Therapy has been one of the biggest gifts in my journey.
Both individual and couples therapy helped me heal. I truly believe my therapists were hand-picked by the divine — because without their guidance, the lows would’ve been unbearable.
Spirituality and faith also became a cornerstone of my life. I’ve learned to trust that a higher power is divinely orchestrating everything.
Hot yoga, for me, became a sacred practice — sweating, detoxing, and finding clarity in the middle of chaos. It’s where my mind quiets and my spirit feels renewed.
Motherhood and Making Magic
Creating special moments for my kids has always been one of my greatest joys.
From hosting Galentine’s parties for their friends to setting up obstacle courses or celebrating Fridays with fun snacks and movie nights — these simple traditions mean everything to us.
After nearly 17 years of parenting, I’ve learned that the balance between caring for myself and showing up for my kids is delicate, but possible.
Why I’m Sharing
This blog is my way of opening up what I’ve learned — the messy, the magical, and everything in between.
Some of what I share will be fun and lighthearted. Some may feel deeper or more reflective. My hope is that it all becomes a resource for anyone trying to find balance, purpose, or a bit of light in their everyday life.
Maybe there’s a mom out there, rocking a baby in the middle of the night, who lands on this page. Maybe it’s someone pouring themselves into their job or other people.
Either way — I hope I can be a big sister, a virtual friend, or simply a reminder that you’re not alone. You can find glimmers of joy, even in the chaos, and still hold onto yourself.
